A passport is mandatory for traveling outside India. The process of getting a passport has become much easier than before, you can apply for a passport from your mobile phone without any agent.

Online passport application fees and documents

Passport apply online

  1. Visit the official website of passport India.

    To apply for a new passport, you have to visit the official website of passport India.

  2. Click on New User Register.

    To apply for a passport, you have to create an account for which you will click on New User Register.

  3. Select the Passport Office name, your first name, and surname, and your date of birth, email ID, login ID, password and select a question.

    In this, you will select the name of the passport office. After this, enter your first name and surname and your date of birth. After this, an email id has to be entered.

    If you want to make your email id as login id then “Do you want your login id to be the same as E-mail id?” You have to do yes, this will make your email ID your login ID. And if you want to keep login id something else then you will do no and type below whatever login id you want to keep.

    After that click on “check availability” whether this login id is available or not.

    After this, you have to enter a password, whatever password you want to keep. After this, you will re-type the password below to confirm. Your password should be strong.

    After this you have to select a question, if you forget the password, then you can recover it by answering this question. Whatever questions you will select, you will put the answer below in “Hint Answer”.

    After that fill out the captcha. After that click on submit.

  4. Activate your account.

    Your account will be successfully created and a link will be sent to your email ID, by clicking on it you will activate your account.

  5. log in to the account.

    Visit the passport website again and click on “User Login”. Continue by entering your email ID. After that enter your password and fill the captcha. After that click on login.

  6. Select “apply for fresh passport”.

    To apply for a new passport, you have to click on “apply for fresh passport”.

  7. Select state, district, and Type of Application.

    In this, you have to select your state and district. In “Apply for” you will select Fresh Passport.

    In “Type of Application” you will select Normal, if you want to get a passport made soon, then you will select “Tatkaal”, its charge is slightly higher.

    After this, you will select how many pages you want in the passport booklet. After that click on Next.

  8. Enter your first name and last name, place of birth, gender, marital status, citizenship, employment type, educational qualification, Aadhar card number.

    In this, you will enter your first name and last name. After this, you will enter the place of birth (in which village, town or city you were born), state, and district.

    Will select gender, marital status, citizenship. If you want, you can also enter your PAN card number and Voter ID card number (this is optional).

    Below you will select the employment type. If any of your parents are government servants then will select them.

    Select your educational qualification. Are you eligible for the Non-ECR category (if you have the 10th mark sheet) then you will do it “yes” or else you will do “no”.

    Apart from this, there are many other documents that you can give for the Non-ECR category, for which you can see by clicking on the “click here document require for Non-ECR” option.

    After this, you will enter your Aadhar card number, after that read and accept the terms and click on save details.

  9. Your application will be successfully submitted.

    Your application will be successfully submitted and a reference number will be generated along with it. After that, you will click on Next.

  10. Enter Father’s Name and Mother’s Name.

    Enter Father’s Name and Mother’s Name. If there is a Guardian, then you will put their first name and last name. After that click on Next.

  11. You have to fill your present address.

    You have to fill your present address such as house number, street name, village/town/city name, state, district, Pincode, and a mobile number. After that click on Next.

  12. Enter emergency contact details.

    In this, you have to enter emergency contact details. In an emergency, you will enter the name and address of whom to contact, a mobile number, and an email id. After that click on Next.

  13. Have you ever held the identity certificate, diplomatic or official passport, ever applied for a passport before and it has not been issued

    Have you ever held the identity certificate which is normally issued for Tibetan and other stateless people. If you have held then you will do yes or else you will hold no.

    If you have any diplomatic or official passport then you will click on “details available” else you will click on “Details not available/never held”.

    Have you ever applied for a passport before and it has not been issued, if yes then yes, otherwise no. After that click on Next.

  14. Some questions will be asked which you will “yes” or “no” according to yours.

    After this, you will be asked some questions which you will do according to your “yes” or “no” and next.

  15. Form Preview

    After this, a preview will come on your screen that what details will come on your passport, then you can check and then do next.

  16. Select the Birth proof, address proof document.

    You will select what you want to give in birth proof like if you want to give Aadhar card then you will select an Aadhar card.

    You will select which document you want to give in the proof of present address, you have been given many options, you can also give Aadhar card if you want.

    Passport SMS Service If you want, then do “yes”, for this you are charged ₹ 50, which you have to pay at the passport office itself. With this, you keep on knowing the status of your passport through SMS.

    After this, you will enter the place, read the terms and conditions and agree. Click on save details then your details will be saved.

  17. Your application will be successfully submitted.

    After this, you can see your completed form by clicking on “preview from”. In this you will get to see all the details which you have filled, if all the details are correct then you will click on “Submit Form”.

    Your application will be successfully submitted.After this you have to book an appointment.

How to book passport appointment online

Step 1: You will click on “view saved/submitted application” to book the appointment. All the applications you have submitted will be displayed on your screen. From that, you will select the application.

Step 2: In this, you will click on “Pay and Schedule Appointment”. Now you have to pay the fee. You can pay with your Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, or Internet Banking.

Step 3: You will click on “view saved/submitted application” again to book the appointment. Select your application. In this, you will click on “Schedule appointment”.

The date will appear on your screen, will do next. Select your passport office and fill in the captcha, then click Next.

Step 4: Select the date on which you want to book the appointment. After that click on “Book Appointment”. Your appointment will be booked successfully.

You will also receive an SMS in which you will get the details of the appointment.

You will select your application to see the receipt of the payment you have made. In this you will click on “View online payment”, then from here, you can see your payment receipt.

How to reschedule passport appointment online

Step 1: If you want, you can reschedule your appointment for which you will click on “Manage appointment”. If you want to change the date then you will click on “reschedule appointment”.

Step 2: Select Passport Office and fill the captcha and click Next.

Step 3: After this, you will select the date for which you want the appointment. After this, we will click on “Book appointment”. Your appointment will be successfully rescheduled.

How to download passport appointment receipt

After completing the application and payment process, you have to download a receipt for entry to the passport office, for which you will visit the official website of Passport India.

Step 1: In this, you will click on “existing user login”. In this, you will continue by entering your email ID, after that enter your password and fill the captcha and click on login.

Step 2: After logging in, click on “View saved/submitted application”. In this, you will select your application.

Step 3: In this, you will click on “Print application receipt”. Application receipt will appear on your screen, in which you will click on print application receipt.

Step 4: This application receipt which you have to show at the time of entry in the passport office. You will scroll down. Below you will get the option “Print Application Receipt”, you can download it by clicking on it.

In this, you will also find the date, time, and batch number written. When you enter the passport office, you will have to show this slip.
