
10 lakh government jobs will be given by the Government of India in 1.5 years, out of which the Agnipath scheme is a process under which the Government of India has decided to appoint 46000 ‘Agniveers’ in the year 2022, and the number of Agniveers to be recruited in the first year will be only 3% of the Armed Forces.
What is Agnipath Scheme
On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, the Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh announced the Agnipath scheme. Agnipath is an all-India merit-based recruitment scheme for Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen under which Indian youth will be provided an opportunity to serve as Agniveers in the Armed Forces.

The tenure of service in the Armed Forces under the Agnipath scheme will be of only 4 years including a training period of 6 months and is aimed at strengthening India’s security. Agniveers will also get 30 holidays annually under the Agnipath scheme.
And in the Agnipath scheme, every year 46000 youth will be taken into the armed forces, which will benefit the country and the youth. All those recruited in the Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen under the Agnipath scheme will be called Agniveers.
Under the Agnipath scheme, 75% of ‘Agniveers’ after completing 4 years of service in the Armed Forces will be given an exit retirement package or Seva Nidhi of Rs 11.71 lakh and certificate, and the remaining 25% will be appointed based on medical fitness and merit for the full tenure of next 15 years.
The Government of India will not collect any income tax out of the 11.71 lakh rupees that will be received in retirement under the Agnipath scheme.
One of the major challenges facing India’s military modernization is the defense budget which is Rs 5.25 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2022-23 as compared to Rs 4.78 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2021-22. The government of India wants to reduce the salary component in the revenue expenditure and pension bill through the Agnipath scheme.
There was no recruitment for the last 2 years, due to which 1.25 lakh posts were vacant, whereas in 2019-20, 80572 soldiers were recruited. Agniveers soldiers will be recruited twice in a year which will be every 6 months.
The recruitment test will be conducted under the Agnipath scheme, Indian youth will be provided an opportunity to serve in the Armed Forces as Agniveers, and women and men will get opportunities as per the service requirements.
The government said that in the future the youth will be given more opportunities to serve in the armed forces and in the Agnipath scheme, in which 46000 will be recruited in the present (year 2022), this number will increase to three times in the coming years.
The Ministry of Home Affairs of India said that under the Agnipath scheme in CAPF (central armed police force) and state police, a reservation of 10% will be kept for Agniveers who have completed 4 years of service in the armed forces. And also given a relaxation of 3 years in the maximum entry age, the same Agniveers who will join the first batch of this scheme will get a relaxation of 5 years because the government has increased the age limit for the Agnipath scheme from 21 years to 23 years for the first year.
Defense Ministry said that in our other vacancies like Defense Civilian posts, Indian Coast Guard, or DPSUs posts in the Defense sector, 10% reservation will also be given to Agniveers.
Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Home Affairs have reserved 10%-10% for Agniveers and will also give degrees through NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling).

Eligibility and Age Limit of Agnipath Scheme
For applying to the Agnipath scheme, the age should be between 17.5 years to 21 years as well a 10th or 12th educational qualification will be necessary, and all the candidates can apply for the regular cadre on a volunteer basis.
India’s Ministry of Defense announced one-time age relaxation for the recruitment cycle for 2022 on the Agnipath scheme in which the age limit for the first year has been increased from 21 years to 23 years.
Agnipath Scheme Salary
Under the Agnipath scheme, the package for the first year will be 4.76 lakhs, after that in the fourth year it will be up to 6.92 lakhs. The government will not give pension but the rest allowances will continue to be available based on risk and hardship and there will be a non-contributory insurance cover of Rs 48 lakhs.
Each Agniveer individual will contribute 30% of the monthly package to Agniveer Corpus Fund and 30% will be contributed by the government from their side, thus 60% contribution in a month will be in the corpus fund. This money will be given to Agniveer at the time of retirement after four years, which will be a total amount of Rs 11.7 lakh and this amount will be tax-free.
In case of death due to service, Rs 1 crore including the service fund will be given to the family members, and full salary for the remaining term will also be given.
Rs 44 lakh will be given on the basis of disability and full salary for the remaining term including service fund will also be given.
